Double Book Launch in San Francisco

Sidebrow and fabric8 Galleries invite you to a launch celebration of Sidebrow’s latest books, Sandy Florian’s On Wonderland & Waste, featuring full-color collages by Alexis Anne Mackenzie, and Joshua Marie Wilkinson’s Selenography, featuring full-color Polaroids by Califone’s Tim Rutili.

The event will include readings by Sandy Florian and Joshua Marie Wilkinson. Alexis Anne Mackenzie’s collages from On Wonderland & Waste will be on display.

Sweets and savories available from street food carts @sfcookies and @toastymelts. Aquatics by the ever popular fabric8 fish.

Born and raised in Seattle, Joshua Marie Wilkinson is the author of five books of poetry, most recently Selenography. He has also edited two anthologies for University of Iowa Press, including Poets on Teaching, due out fall 2010. A tour documentary about the band Califone, entitled Made a Machine by Describing the Landscape, is also forthcoming. He teaches at Loyola University Chicago, and divides his time between Chicago and Athens, GA.

Sandy Florian is the author Telescope (Action Books), 32 Pedals & 47 Stops (Tarpaulin Sky Press), The Tree of No (Action Books), On Wonderland & Waste (Sidebrow Books), and Prelude to Air From Water (Elixir Press). She has been awarded residencies at Caldera Arts, Stonehouse, and the Vermont Studio Center and literary prizes from Elixir Press, New Voices, and Brown University. Alexis Anne Mackenzie has exhibited her artwork across the United States, including solo shows in San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She holds a B.F.A. from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and her art has appeared in numerous magazines and books, including Art for Obama and The Rest Is Up To You. Tim Rutili is a musician, filmmaker, and visual artist. He is principal songwriter, lyricist, and vocalist for Red Red Meat and Califone, bands which he founded. He is also a member of Ugly Casanova and Boxhead Ensemble. Rutili has composed music for documentary and feature films and contributed to albums by Modest Mouse, Sage Francis, and many other artists. He has directed numerous short films and music videos. His feature-film directorial debut All My Friends Are Funeral Singers had its premier at the 2010 Sundance film festival. He lives in Los Angeles and Chicago.
